The Person, Jesus.

Hebrews 1: 1-3

1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

We must understand the importance of God's estimation of Jesus in our life/generation because this understanding can positively impact us and everything concerning us. Thus, as we investigate the introduction of this Hebrew passage, we gain a glimpse of how God has approved Jesus to our life, as the Almighty.

The introduction of this bible verse shows us that we have a God that has never left us without His presence. This is seen by the way He communed with the people of the past through prophets, signs, and miracles. Though the people of that time had the proclivity of disobedience, He continually showed His grace towards them. This He continued from the time of Moses, through the time of Isaiah, and up to the time of Malachi as a reminder of how much He wanted His people to return to him.

One thing that is common with the words and signs that God has shown through His prophets; is His intention to reveal a mediator even in this generation. Hence, He said in Heb 1:2, “In these last days he has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom also He made the universe” and when Jesus came he said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me" (Heb 10:5). Being that He is the person that God has approved and introduced, one thing that we should try to understand is that when God introduces a thing or person, it is not limited to a particular part of a room, part of a country, or even a particular part of the universe. Therefore, when God introduced Jesus, He is introducing Him to everything that the light touches, to show that He is the one that has been approved. This is the reason why He also affirms this in Philippians which states that “God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

As we experience the struggles of sickness, trials, tribulation, suffering, opposition, heartbrokenness, depression, to mention but a few, there is only one name that these issues will respond to. Just the way we were introduced to that name, those issues that we are passing through have also been introduced to that name. So even if they will not respond to our tears, perseverance, tenacity, shouting, mourning, the passage tells us that there is only one name that they will respond to because “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth”, likewise, “every tongue [will] acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Thus, that name is what we now need to address the issues that we are passing through, for it has been established that “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

He is sustaining all things by His powerful word so even when our words and shouting can’t save us and our determination can’t carry us through, we are confident that there is a name by which everything is sustained. Thus, I speak to your situation and declare that whatever thing you are passing through today in your life that has not respected your voice will respect His voice in the name of Jesus. Those doors, opportunities, and promotions that have not opened will open unto you when we call and believe in that name. So in the name of Jesus, I declare your deliverance, restoration, and healing!
